Contact a credit reporting agency. You usually get one free credit report each year, I think. You should pay off any past due outstanding balances, and close any accounts that you don%26#039;t use. Pay your bills on time, that is the biggest piece of advice.

1. go to www.annualcreditreport.com

2. pull all 3 bureaus

3. pay all derog credit

4. dispute the items (on every bureau)

5. cross your fingers sometimes it comes off

1st of all, do not close out your credit cards! The only way to clean it up, is to do exactly that--clean it up. Any service will only charge you a fee for what you can do for free %26amp; pretty easily on your own.

1. Get your credit report from all 3 agencies for free at www.annualcreditreport.com and if you want, you can pay like $6 to each to get the score.

2. see what is out there %26amp; take care of it. I dont understand why they have not contacted you if you owe them money. Maybe you moved %26amp; they dont have a new address or something. But, call them %26amp; have them send you a bill for what you owe. If you think you dont owe it for whatever reason, tell them %26amp; have them prove you owe it.

A financial advisor cant do squat for your credit! They can only tell you how to invest.

I think you should see a financial advisor, he or she should be able to assist you.

Here%26#039;s a link I have found to be helpful with sample letters for creditors and useful advise. If you are not sure who you owe or how much, I would start by getting your credit report. It will lists your debts, how much is left to pay, and contact info for those companies.
