Can you have a negative removed from your credit report?

If I pay the debt in full will they negotiate removal from my credit report?

Can you have a negative removed from your credit report?

It will not be removed from your credit rating all together.. this happens after 7 years but it will say that the debt is paid next to it when companies look at it. This doesn%26#039;t happen automatically though, its your responsibility to get it sorted. You can do this by getting the company you owe the debt to to notify Veda (here in Australia) or the organization that looks after the credit ratings and if possible get the company you owe the money to to send you a letter for your records saying that you paid and that they have amended your credit rating. That way if it just so happens that they don%26#039;t amend it, you at least have proof that they said they were going to!

No. its as simple as that. Some things will stay on your credit report for 7yrs. Paying the debt in full will not help you any. Sorry. =( I don%26#039;t know what all laws are on the books..but I don%26#039;t see you getting anything bad took off your credit report... credit card companies and banks aren%26#039;t that nice. However if you pay the debt completely off it will look better on you. Is it just a late payment that your worried about or something like a charge off. Because charge off%26#039;s and bankruptcies and foreclosures and repossecions usually stay on there for at least 7yrs. If its just a late payment or to thats not that bad..but I gurantee they still won%26#039;t remove it. Good Luck though

I%26#039;d be interested in hearing how this turns out...if you get them to remove a negative be sure to let me know.

Amys4x4 couldn%26#039;t be more wrong. If you get a pay to delete agreement in writing, then the collection agency or creditor must remove that item when you pay. You don%26#039;t even have to pay in full, since most collection agencies will settle for less than the balance owed. Failure to remove the listing as per your agreement would be a violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act and you could see them for $1000!

Here is a great link that explains the process. Pay attention to the links at the end of the article.

Edit: There is also information in there about disputing debt and demanding validation. You may want to try that as well, since you could get out of it without paying a single penny to these collection agencies.

It cannot be removed. It must age off.

If the creditor will agree to delete the item for payment, you can get it removed. Some creditors will and some won%26#039;t. Just be sure to get a written settlement agreement and don%26#039;t give them access to your bank account.

If you are dealing with a collection agency, you may only get the negative reported by the collection agency. They may not be able to remove the original creditor%26#039;s item.
