What good does disputing a charge do if they can still file a negative credit report?
Am I going to have to file a dispute with the credit companies after all this is over as well?
Can a collections agency file a negative credit report while the charge is under dispute?
I hate to say this but after looking at credit reports everyday for quite sometime now I have learned theat collectors usually report to the CRAs before they even notify you. I know somebody might say they can%26#039;t do that its illegal. TRUE, but they do and trying to prove it is hard.
When you dispute it they are suppose to add that comment to the tradeline it still hurts you. the comment added usually says this
%26quot;Consumer disputes item%26quot;
Good luck and check out the link on lawsuits

I guess my answer came a little slow. So, in brief, see Sections 611 and 623 for more information. Good luck.

Contact the credit reporting bureaus and tell them you are disputing the charge.

If you disputed the account within the first 30 days after receiving notification of the debt from the collector and they have failed to validate, they have violated the following by reporting on your credit reports --
搂 809. Validation of debts [15 USC 1692g]
(b) If the consumer notifies the debt collector in writing within the thirty-day period described in subsection (a) that the debt, or any portion thereof, is disputed, or that the consumer requests the name and address of the original creditor, the debt collector shall cease collection of the debt, or any disputed portion thereof, until the debt collector obtains verification of the debt or any copy of a judgment, or the name and address of the original creditor, and a copy of such verification or judgment, or name and address of the original creditor, is mailed to the consumer by the debt collector.

Reporting is continued collections.
You should file disputes with the CRA%26#039;s while the collector is still under validation - if they verify before validating, that would be another violation.
